I have seen:

  • the wrong weight engine oil,

          and not enough oil put in at oil changes) 

  • brake pads installed upside down,

          i.e. low wear indicators can't work

  • brake hoses twisted, cutting of brake fluid

          brakes get HOT, parts warp, fluid boils

  • wrong lubricant on caliper slide pins

          degrading rubber boots pins won't easily

          slide over time, causing caliper failure  

  • brake shoe adjuster plugs missing

          allowing debris in braking system

          compromising integrity over time

EQUIPMENT

Diagnostics are a big priority.  How many times have you paid for a repair that did not fix your problem?  We  DO NOT believe in the "shotgun method of diagnostics" wherein parts are replaced ($$$$)  for symptoms and not the root problem. Sometimes, in the event of a specific code, replacing an inexpensive part, like a gas cap, can save the customer $$ by not having to climb the diagnostic tree. Put a new cap on, reset the computer. Simple and easy.  If it does not fix the problem, we will then begin to climb that diagnostic tree.  Sometimes when a battery dies, the computers issue conflicting codes.  We reset the computer and let you drive.  If the light comes back on, we will evaluate the issue at hand

There have been a number of occasions when customers are totally baffled -- they parked their vehicle the night before, and the next day SOMETHING is wrong....  Rodents are an issue...

We are located in a rural, family concentrated area.  We have parents, children and grandchildren.  Our customers are people, not dollars.  Although things today are expensive, we do not cut corners to increase our profit margin.  We are not a chain, and we do not have ostentatious overhead that drives our prices.  


With that being said, we do not have the convenience of a 10 bay shop with 8 technicians, able to do pop in oil changes, etc.  At the same time, our oil changes are thorough and complete.  We change drain bolt washers, torque drain bolts, torque oil filters, fill your windshield wiper fluid tank, and all of the critical systems visual inspections. Your car goes on a lift, we check your suspension. We do not have a oil pit.


Our philosophies are unusual, as are our practices:


A customer schedules a major service (30/60/90).  The first thing I do is drain the oil and check the brakes.  Why?  In the event our customer is on a budget, I would rather inform them of any safety related brake issues before incurring the expense of the service on top of the brakes.  If the brakes can wait, we note an estimate of the repair and an estimated time frame.  ​If brake work is needed, the customer can choose to reschedule the service or get all the work done in one visit.

Today's vehicles are sophisticated and expensive.  There are computers for every component in your vehicle - engine, transmission, air bag, anti lock brakes, emissions, etc.  These computers all have sensors that detect parameters of operation to ensure optimum performance.  

We have the special tools and diagnostic equipment to scan and evaluate these issues.                 Our equipment enables us to scan, monitor, and perform the best repair - a clean, long-lasting repair of your vehicle.  Following is a list of our equipment:

  • broken plastic components -- air boxes cracked, screws stripped - have to replace the box, glove boxes broken -- all from "checking" cabin filters, etc.​ during routine oil change -- without authorization
  • drain bolts with old washers or even no washer, over sized drain bolts, stripped oil pan threads ($300 + for an oil pan replacement)
  • lugs on wheels so tight they are difficult to loosen - warping brake rotors - compromising wheel studs
  • wheel weights on opposing sides of the wheel - counter balance ??
  • directional tires installed in the wrong direction
  • aluminum rims must have epoxy coated weights to protect rims
  • TPMS valve stems require plastic cap - metal will damage sensor
