In recent years, we have seen customers stretch every dollar because of the continuing economic problems.  It is very disturbing when we review the car repair and service history of a customer's vehicle and see money wasted on unnecessary maintenance when repairs are now needed -- when it could have benefitted their family elsewhere -- ALOT OF MONEY. 

Most of these customers are not entirely comfortable with car repair shops, expecting to be ripped off at every opportunity.

MODERN TECHNOLOGY:  Today, everything is sophisticated and expensive.  Your vehicle could have as many as 7 different computers that communicate with their related component in your vehicle.  Not only the intelligence of the vehicle, but the special tools, the manufacturer of parts for your import, the recalls and technical service bulletins so that we can inform you of something covered under Honda Warranty.

We know that regardless of your educational/skill background, you as the daily driver of your car are the resident expert of what is normal.  We work together with you and explain along the way.  Knowledge is power, and when it is explained simply, not intimidating at all.


We work with our customers to develop a maintenance and car repair STRATEGY -- yes a STRATEGIC PLAN -- for the most valuable and necessary machine their family relies upon -- THEIR CAR.  We know that YOU are the expert on your car.  You drive it every day -- and you know what is normal and what is not.  You are a critical component in our repairing your car.  Some folks say "I don' know anything about cars."     H O G W A S H !

Regular oil changes -- 3,500 miles or 3-4 months -- whichever comes first.  At that oil change, 
tire pressure will be checked, treadwear evaluated, underside of vehicle examined for obvious issues, while the vehicle is on the lift various suspension and steering components will be checked, etc. as a matter of routine.

Regular 30,000 mile services -- EVERY 30,000 MILES -- is a thorough evaluation of the condition of all critical systems, the exchange of most major component fluids and filters, complete brake inspection, tire rotation, test battery,  etc. 
Average annual mileage -- this service would be performed every other year.  Specifications of the wearable components of your car are documented for you so that you can prepare for necessary car repairs, budgeting both time and money so it is not an expensive surprize at a difficult time.

If you get your major services done, there is no need for high pressure flushes and other upsells advertised.  These flushes are good for the neglected car that has accumulated sludge and deposits.  Flushes can be $160 or more.  A drain and fill is all that is needed every 30,000 miles and is included in our major service package price.  Our radiator drain and fill is $95.61 and our transmission drain and fill is $78.11 both prices are final, and include tax and shop supplies.

We see redundancies and overkill of filters, flushes, chemical additives, etc.  These are expensive services that are over done.  Fluids and filters every 30,000 miles unless you have a severe condition.  Save your money for regular factory scheduled maintenance and needed car repairs.


PRODUCT KNOWLEDGE:  Because we specialize: we know who the manufacturers are that make the parts for your vehicle, so we can get you the best parts at the best cost.  We know what fluids go in your vehicle, the ignition parts that work best with your vehicle, etc.  We have diagnosed check engine lights as well as running problems due to the wrong spark plug or spark plug wire.  This incurs not only a repair bill but a diagnostic bill as well!

RESPECT, CARE & EXPERTISE:  We see the wrong weight of engine oil in a car, brake pads installed upside down, broken plastic components -- air box cracked, screws stripped, drain bolts with old washers or even no washer, oversized drain bolts, stripped oil pan threads, lugs on your wheels so tight they are difficult to loosen -- all of these have to do with a lack of care and respect for you and your vehicle.  That does not happen here.  We aren't trying to get all your money we can on one visit.  We just want to keep your car running at optimum condition so that you can drive it and get the best gas mileage you can!

For something as simple as an oil change, careless mistakes can really cost alot of money (oil pan drain bolt threads, welding oil pan, replacing oil pan, even as much as a replacement motor)!

CUSTOMER COURTESY:  A customer schedules a major service (30/60/90).  The first thing we do is drain the oil and check the brakes.  Why?  In the event our customer is on a budget, I would rather inform them of any brake issues and related expenses before incurring the entire charge of the service on top of the brakes.  If the brakes can wait, we note an estimate of the repair and an estimated time frame.  If brake work is needed, the customer pays for the brake repairs and an oil change -- they can always reschedule the service.  If the customer wants to get it all over with in one visit, we can do that too.

ACCOUNTABILITY & RELIABILITY:  You know when you patronize one shop, all of your records are in one location.  We can easily respond to your call from vacation about that Interstate battery you just bought that has left you stranded -- fax receipts, get your warranteed battery at no charge, etc.  You know that Mark is maintaining your vehicle, so you don't have to.  We will not charge you for wipers and not install them.  We have even given repair advice over the phone to a customer broken down on the highway!  We gave his wife used parts and tools -- told him to call when she  got there for repair instructions!!  We were able to fax Interstate Battery information to a shop in New Jersey for a customer on vacation that had a failed battery under warranty!  It is our job to ensure the longevity of our car repairs and parts warranties.

HONESTY AND COMMITMENT:  So many times, we will get phone calls:  how much is a tuneup? how much is a clutch?  We always take a moment to ask why -- symptoms are clues to pattern failures.  We see the pattern failures that you as the owner don't see.  Rather than replace spark plugs, you could have an EGR problem.  Rather than replace your clutch, the hydraulic portion of the clutch system could have failed.  We want to fix your problem and you want your problem fixed.

We have a vested interest in fixing your car correctly the first time.  Who has time or money to keep trying to fix the same problem??

The average person figures an oil change is a no brainer...The car goes in, someone is in the pit to drain the oil, filter and oil replaced, oil change done.  The average employee is young and is cumulating experience to move forward to become a technician assistant.  What do you think is the average age of an oil change person?

In our shop, there are certain things an experienced seasoned technician does as habit: car goes up, pull the drain plug, inspect the underside of the vehicle for leaks, problem areas, check suspension, evaluate condition of exhaust, peek through the wheels at the brakes for obvious problem, check and adjust tire pressures, measure tread of tire, etc.
